People sing it to praise their nation. The flag song or Dhwaj Geet of India was composed by Shyamlal Gupta ‘Parshad’. Shyamlal Gupta was popularly known for his pen name Parshad.

She was an Indian poet and lyricist. Later from this original flag song of 7 stanzas, Congress modified three stanzas (version No. 1, 6 & 7) to recognize it as ‘Dhwajgeet’. This song was not only declared the national anthem but also became a source of inspiration for many youths and young women to die for the country.
