NMC New Guidelines for MBBS 2022

Here in this article, we have brought for you NMC New Guidelines for MBBS 2022 PDF. The National Medical Commission issued a circular regarding implementing a new competency-based medical education curriculum in undergraduate programs. The new set of guidelines will apply to MBBS students at UG CGME batch 2021-2022 (recognized in 2022).

NMC New Guidelines for MBBS 2022 PDF – Highlights

The NMC circular mainly lists the guidelines that need to be followed as there is a need for redistribution of time for the course in the professional year of 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The duration of the first professional course has been reduced from 14 months to 12 months.

The circular lists out how to manage the new timeline along with other changes to ensure merit-based medical education.

Other changes include:

  • Early clinical exposure and integration
  • Self Directed Learning (SDL)
  • Introduction of Electives
  • Family Adoption Program
  • Recommendation of amended ‘Maharishi Charak Oath’ when a candidate is introduced to medical education
  • Yoga Training in Foundation Course
  • Continuous formative and internal assessment
  • Supplementary exam
  • No supplement or repeater batches

NMC issues draft guidelines on registration of doctors to practice medicine

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued draft rules on ‘License 2022 to practice medicine, ‘Registration of additional qualifications, as well as ‘Provisional registration of foreign physician to practice medicine in India’. The NMC has invited comments from the public, experts, organizations, and all stakeholders within a month. Comments may be sent to the email id – [email protected] by May 6 at. NMC will conduct the National Exit Test (NeXT) for all medical graduates so that they can practice medicine.

NMC draft regulations on license to practice medicine

  • The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) and NMC will generate a unique ID number and thereby grant a license to the practitioner to practice medicine in the respective State or Union Territory.
  • No person shall practice medicine in India (that is, modern scientific medicine as defined) unless he has been issued a license to practice medicine, either provisionally or otherwise”.
  • Till the time the National Register is not implemented, the existing system of registration of doctors will continue.
  • All licensed practitioners are obliged to notify and update their data in the National Register as soon as changes occur such as additional qualifications, contact details, and place of practice/employment.
