Who can open Retail Direct Gilt Account on Online Portal ?

Retail investors can register under the Scheme and maintain a RDG Account, if they have:
- Any OVD for KYC purpose
- Valid email id
- Registered mobile number
- Rupee savings bank account maintained in India
- Permanent Account Number (PAN) issued by the Income Tax Department
Non-Resident retail investors under Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.
The RDG account can be opened singly or jointly with another retail investor who meets the decided eligibility criteria.

What are the main Benefits of the Retail Direct Scheme for Investors ?

The investor will receive any interest paid/maturity proceeds into his linked bank account on due dates.
The investor can place non competitive bids in Primary issuance of all Central Government securities and the securities issued by various State Governments.

Procedure for RBI Retail Direct Scheme Online Portal Login

Firstly, you have to login on the Official Website of RBI for this scheme.
The candidates who are eligible retail clients can open RDG Account either singly or jointly;
To open an account, the investor will have to give all the details like Full Name, PAN, Mobile Number, Email Address, Residential Address, Bank Account number etc. Note that all these details should be accurate.
The mobile number and email address should be authenticated because further process will be done by generating OTP on your mobile.
You will be given a tracking no. also so that you can check the status.
Investors are instructed to read the guidelines carefully.
In case of Joint Accounts, both accounts has to be verified
In case of any KYC failures, the applicant can make new application and repeat the procedures.
Now the Bank Account of the Customer is validated.
If the KYC is successfully done, a Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) Account will be opened in the name of the Investor.
All the necessary information like account number, login id, password and other services will be made available to the Customer over mail.
It is compulsory for investor to fill in the nomination details at the time of opening of the account. The investor has to accept the same by uploading a scanned image of signature.
Finally, the RDG Account is available for primary market participation and well as secondary market transactions.
