Here in this list, we are presenting VBSPU Syllabus PDF. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur renamed as Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, in the honor of Late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of the state, was established on 2 October 1987 as an affiliating university under U.P. State Universities Act 1973.

Starting with 68 affiliated colleges, the university has now expanded its spectrum of activities with an enrollment of about three lakh eighty thousand (380,000) students in 367 affiliated undergraduate and postgraduate colleges and five districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

VBSPU BA Syllabus for Physical Geography for 1st Year:

Unit-I

Lithosphere: Nature and Scope of Physical Geography, Geological Time Scale, Origin of the Earth, the interior of the Earth, Origin of  Continents and Oceans, Isostasy, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Geosynclines, Mountain Building with special reference to folded  mountains, Concept of Plate Tectonics added in VBSPU Syllabus

Unit-II

Rocks-their origin, classification, and characteristics, Earth movements-Folding, Faulting and Wrapping, Weathering and Erosion, Cycle of Erosion by Davis and Penck, Drainage Pattern, Evolution of Landforms by River, Wind, Glacier and Underground water.

Unit-III

Atmosphere: Composition and Structure of atmosphere, Insolation, Horizontal and Vertical distribution of temperature,  Atmospheric pressure, and winds, Airmasses and Fronts, cyclones and anti-cyclones, Humidity, precipitation and  rainfall types, Major climate types-  Equatorial, Monsoon, Mediterranean, West European and Hot Desert.

Unit-IV

Hydrosphere: Ocean Bottoms, the composition of marine water- temperature and salinity, Circulation of Ocean water-Waves, Currents and Tides, Ocean deposits, Corals and atolls, oceans storehouse of resources for the future added in VBSPU Syllabus

Unit-V

Biosphere: Components of Biosphere, Plants and animal evolution, dispersal and distribution: Biotic succession, Biome types and Zoogeographical regions of the world,  Biosphere as a global Eco-System.
